Seven young dancers, from Dance Academy, have recently returned from Prague with their ballet teacher Miss Ingrid Desira Buttigieg. For a whole week the group participated in the New Dance Prague Festival where they presented two dances: a classical dance and a lyrical modern dance, both choreographed by Miss Ingrid. The students had the privilege of performing on three occasions, to a vast audience on the stage of the National Theatre of Prague. A further boost was given to the whole experience when they were awarded The Dancing Hand Prix at the award ceremony. Besides participating in the Dance Festival, the young dancers had the opportunity to undertake workshops with professors of the State Dance Conservatory and Charles University Dance department. The teachers were Prof Janack and prof Hortr for classical ballet, prof Hannichova for modern, prof Shchekaleva for hip hop just to mention a few.
The Dance festival offered the students an opportunity to meet students from various countries around the world, teaching them that dance has no boundaries and is a universal means of communication.
The workshops that the students attended where in Classical ballet, Modern dance, Hip-Hop, Pilates, Pantomime and Theatrical make-up. All lessons where held in the beautiful historical halls of the Ensemble of The National Theatre Ballet, not far from the Prague Castle, Charles Bridge and the Lesser Town.
